No error stack trace being displayed with Python 2.7 on GAE

hop of those help? Looks there was an open issue with the SDK: http://code.google.com/p/webapp-improved/issues/detail?id=34.
However, based on the last comment, it seems that the change has not been incorporated into the latest build. Testing this out on my machine (OSX with SDK 1.7.0.129), the behavior is same as described above and in comment 4 of the issue.

like below fixes the issue After more inquisitions, it seems that xdebug is causing the problems. After disabling it, the stack trace is working again everytime.

it helps some times You could use Exception::getTrace() method to collect information, and write your own custom getTraceAsString(), not including parameters.
See this example from the comments on Exception::getTrace() docs.
code :
  function MakePrettyException(Exception $e) {
    $trace = $e->getTrace();

    $result = 'Exception: "';
    $result .= $e->getMessage();
    $result .= '" @ ';
    if($trace[0]['class'] != '') {
      $result .= $trace[0]['class'];
      $result .= '->';
    }
    $result .= $trace[0]['function'];
    $result .= '();<br />';

    return $result;
  }

Two function calls but only one trace displayed

it fixes the issue It is indeed a result of laziness.
Laziness means that merely defining a value doesn't mean it will be evaluated; that will only happen if it's needed for something. If it's not needed, the code that would actually produce it doesn't "do anything". If a particular value is needed the code is run, but only the first time it would be needed; if there are other references to the same value and it is used again, those uses will just directly use the value that was produced the first time.
code :
f=trace("f was called")$(+1)
print $ f 1
f n=trace("f was called:"++show n)$n+1
f = \n -> trace ("f was called:" ++ show n) $ n + 1

I wish this help you I have just stumbled across this blog that explains it very clearly - https://weblogs.sqlteam.com/dang/2007/10/11/sql-trace-parameter-values-are-not-always-as-they-seem/
