How to return a function for number guessing game

it should still fix some issue Use return 'lower' and return 'higher' instead of print. So you'll get 'lower' and 'higher' respectively in the console.
code :
def higher_lower(num):
if num > 25:
   return "higher"
elif num < 25:
    return "lower"
    return "correct"

guess = 3
if( guess == random ):
    print('your right!')
elif ( abs (guess - random) <= 2 ):
    print('you are close to guessing the number!')
    print('you are not close enough!')

    printf("I have a number between 1-50.\n");
    printf("Can you guess what it is?\n");
    printf("Enter your initial guess.\n");
    while (1) {
        scanf("%d", &guessed_num);
        int returnValue = guessGame(guessed_num);

To fix the issue you can do When a function ends in something other than :void such as your :int there needs to be a return line. Looks like:
code :
function myFunction():int
    var myVar: int = 5;
    return myVar;

it should still fix some issue Move the random number generation part to the form load event and assign it to a global variable.
public partial class NumberGame : System.Web.UI.Page {
code :
int value;

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
    Random rand = new Random();
    value = rand.Next(0, 10);

protected void btnCalculate_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

    int numGuess = 0;
    int guess = Convert.ToInt32(txtGuess.Text);

            if (guess > value)
                lblResult.Text = "Guess is too high, try again. ";
                lblGuess.Text = "The number of guesses is " + numGuess;
            else if (guess < value)
                lblResult.Text = "Guess is too low, try again. ";
                lblGuess.Text = "The number of guesses is " + numGuess;
            else if (guess == value)
                lblResult.Text = "You win! Good job. ";
                lblGuess.Text = "The number of guesses is " + numGuess;

        }while(numGuess < 3)
