it should still fix some issue ezdxf stores all entities of a DXF document in the entity database by their handle as key:
code :
doc = ezdxf.new()
msp = doc.modelspace()
p = msp.add_point((0, 0))
p1 = doc.entitydb[p.dxf.handle]
assert p1 is p
p2 = doc.entitydb.get(p.dxf.handle)
assert p2 is p
assert doc.entitydb.get('ABBA') is None

NHibernate: how to handle entity-based validation using session-per-request pattern, without controllers knowing about I

I hope this helps you . Option 1 without a doubt. It's not counter intuitive, it's how NH works. Objects retrieved using NH are persistent and changes will be saved when the session is flushed. Calling Evict makes the object transient which is exactly the behavior you want.
You don't mention it but another option might be to use Manual or Commit FlushMode.

should help you out dxfgrabber and ezdxf are just interfaces to the DXF format and do not provide any kind of CAD or calculation functions, and the geometrical length of DXF entities are not available attributes in the DXF format.
