wish of those help With the "Built in" stuff, you can't, as using 1.0.* or 1.0.0.* will replace the revision and build numbers with a coded date/timestamp, which is usually also a good way.
For more info, see the Assembly Linker Documentation in the /v tag.
code :
Version v = Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().Version;
string About = string.Format(CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, @"YourApp Version {0}.{1}.{2} (r{3})", v.Major, v.Minor, v.Build, v.Revision);

how to update referenced assemblies version number automatically every release

this one helps. I don't know of a tool that does this job already; however, csproj-files are just XML files, so you can create one yourself easily. If you do this on a monthly basis, I think the effort would pay off fast.
As you might know from your manual approach, you'd have to look for elements that look similar like this (namespace "http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"):
code :
<Reference Include="AssemblyName, Version=, Culture=neutral, processorArchitecture=MSIL">

wish help you to fix your issue Good news, you can rename files that are open on Windows (executables and DLLs). The lock prevents you from deleting files, not renaming them.
Rename the currently running program to Application_old.exe while it's running Write the downloaded program to Application.exe Run the new Application.exe Close the old one. Delete the old version using the new executed program.

How in octopus deploy set the package version number and release that version automatically

I wish this help you I think you're asking how to configure Octopus Deploy to automatically set the Release version number based on a Package version number, and make it automatically create a Release when a new package arrives, and make it deploy that Release as soon as it is created. (But I only got that from the title of your question - there wasn't a question in the body of your question, so I hope I have understood what you wanted)
Go to the Octopus Project's Settings. You can change the version number to get its version number from a Package, rather than the default value supplied by Octopus. Go to the Octopus Project's Triggers. SetUp the "Automatic Release Creation" by telling it which (one) Package to use as a trigger for creating a Release. If you have several, you must set it to be the last one given to Octopus, so if you're doing this manually, think about creating an automated build so it is repeatable. Go to the definition of the Lifecycle used by your project. Change the first environment, so that the releases are automatically deployed into it.

How to automatically update R to the latest version?

Hope that helps If you're using Mac or Linux you can use a package manager for that.
On Mac you can use brew. On Linux it depends on your distribution. Most ditros ship with a default package manager. On Manjaro it's pamac. This approach has the advantage that it lets you automatically every program which you obtained using the package manager and not just R.
