Hope this helps MacVim works well and certainly looks more mature than Vim-Cocoa, moreover there is a Cocoa plugin architecture in the pipeline for MacVim (and someone is already working on a TextMate style file browser tray plugin which is a huge ++ IMHO).
There was also a Carbon version of Vim, but this didn't offer a great deal over the Terminal version. i.e. only allowed one window open, not very OSX in appearance...

I wish this help you OK I figured out how to do this (start a new emacs server for each new project) from the terminal, I'm sure it would be trivial to get it working from the finder too but since I'm usually in terminal anyway it works for me. I just added this to my ~/.profile
code :
function emacs-open() {

Can I install WhizzyTeX for Emacs on a Mac (is Mac OS X a unix environment)?

Hope this helps If anyone is interested, I managed to make it. It is a bit slow and I think some files have issues, but in any case, it works!
The trick is to do what is explained here except for step 4. What I did instead was put the whizzytex.sty file in the same place as whizzytex.el and whizzytex (see step 5 in the article) and then I opened the file whizzytex (the one without extension), and where it says:

Emacs (Cocoa Emacs) vs Aquamacs for running Clojure on Mac OS X

around this issue Aquamacs most definitely works with Clojure, since the author of Clojure uses it. However, I use Emacs, and after you perform the steps above in the Emacs section, I recommend checking out labrepl,

Preferred Mac OS X installer

With these it helps If your application is entirely self contained with all its resources bundled in a single .app package (which is the preferred structure for Mac applications) then use drag and drop installation. If it isn't possible to bundle your application in this way then use an installer .pkg.
There may be other solutions that are appropriate for certain types of application. For example I develop a large Java application that runs on many platforms (including Mac) and we use IzPack to build one installer JAR that works on all platforms. We then package this up as an .exe for Windows users (using Launch4J) and as a .app bundle for Mac users.

like below fixes the issue In short, you can't install too older Xcode versions on the current MacOS versions, you can only install the most recent Xcode versions.
But you need Xcode 8 (and I think it runs on El Capitan).
