it helps some times Hey looking to convert this string into datetime , Use DateTime.ParseExact()...
code :
var strValue = "20101119T162837";

var dateValue = DateTime.ParseExact(strValue, "yyyyMMdd'T'HHmmss", CultureInfo.CurrentCulture);
var diff = dateValue - DateTime.Now;
Console.WriteLine("difference: {0:HH}h{0:mm}", diff);

should help you out The two methods use two different conversion methods: the constructor uses an instance of InstantConverter, which in case of strings is a StringConverter and which doesn't yet support reading the timezone from the passed string, while the parse method uses a DateTimeFormatter which knows how to parse the timezone.
Although both formats in theory accept an ISO datetime format, I consider that the constructor is buggy since it always uses the system timezone instead of the one specified in the string. This is inconsistent with the other possible values accepted by this constructor, which do take into account a chronology with its timezone offset. For example, this constructor will return a DateTime object with the UTC timezone:
code :
new DateTime(DateTime.parse("2012-08-16T07:22:05Z"))

it should still fix some issue I found my mistake : the format string of my calendar field was bad.
I used "Y-m-d H-i-s" instead of "Y-m-d H:i:s"
String was not recognized as a valid DateTime [Remove Time from DateTime]

I wish did fix the issue. SQL Stores the datetime data type dates in a standard format for SQL. However when you retrieve a datetime data type from SQL the datetime result will be converted to the DateTime struct in C#.
As the retrieved value IS a DateTime object you dont need to convert to a string then parse it out. Doing this doubles the conversion work for retreiving that datetime.
code :
protected void btnUser_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
        {
            string Name = cmbName.Text;
            DateTime start = default(DateTime);

            SqlConnection myConn = new SqlConnection("Data Source=localhost;" + "Initial Catalog=IBBTS_DB; Integrated Security =SSPI");

                SqlCommand retrieveStart_DateCmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT startDate FROM testSet where TS_ID = 121 ;", myConn);
                SqlDataReader reader6 = retrieveStart_DateCmd.ExecuteReader();
                while (reader6.Read())
                {
                    start = (DateTime)reader6[0];
                }
                reader6.Close();
                string myFormattedString = start.ToString("dd/MM/yyyy");
         }
    }

seems to work fine You can parse the time into a TimeSpan object and add it to your current Date.
Parsing time in format 08:00 AM could be solved with h:mm tt as descriped here.
code :
public DateTime Date { get; set; }
public string Time { get; set; }
public DateTime DateTime
{
    get
    {
         return Date.Date.Add(DateTime.ParseExact(Time, "h:mm tt", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture).TimeOfDay);
    }
}
public DateTime Date { get; set; }
public DateTime Time { get; set; }
public DateTime DateTime
{
    get
    {
        return Date.Date.Add(Time.TimeOfDay);
    }
}
