this one helps. Both nodejs native require and requirejs automatically handles this.
Beware, this is two edged sword - changing properties of imported module also changes them in all other scripts that import them, similarly to changing Java static property.

Hope that helps The details of importing get very complicated, but conceptually it is very simple.
When you write:
code :
import some_module
some_module = import_module("some_module")
def import_module(modname):
    if modname in sys.modules:
        module = sys.modules[modname]
    else:
        filename = find_file_for_module(modname)
        python_code = open(filename).read()
        module = create_module_from_code(python_code)
        sys.modules[modname] = module
    return module

This might help you
Should I always repeat my imports at the head of each module file?
Can I make a Julia package containing multiple modules that can be independently imported?

Hope that helps Try Requires.jl:
Requires is a Julia package that will magically make loading packages faster, maybe. It supports specifying glue code in packages which will load automatically when a another package is loaded, so that explicit dependencies (and long load times) can be avoided.

hop of those help? The solution is the same as for "protected" attributes / methods in a class (names defined in a module are actually - at runtime - attributes of the module object): prefix those names with a single leading underscore, ie
code :
import numpy as _np

def sqrt(x):
  return _np.sqrt(x)
