I wish did fix the issue. In the "Convert Text To Columns" utility on step 2 there is an "Advanced" button. There you can specify the decimal and "thousands" separators. This will perform the conversion you desire.

## Are there any real-world uses for converting numbers between different bases?

this one helps. Different bases are good for different purposes.
Decimal is obviously what most people know how to deal with, so is good for output of real quantities to end users. Hex is short and has an even ratio of exactly 2 characters per byte, so it's good for expressing large numbers like SHA1 hashes or private keys and the like in a type-able format, particularly since those numbers don't really represent a quantity, so users don't need to be able to understand them as numbers. Octal is mostly for legacy reasons -- UNIX file permission codes are traditionally expressed as octal numbers, for example, because three bits per digit corresponds nicely to the three bits per user-category of the UNIX permission encoding scheme.

To fix this issue Although baldyHDL's answer will work, you can now use the (now-standard and synthesisable) fixed-point types to save a lot of manual effort.
You can choose how many bits you want to the left and right of the binary point. There are functions to directly convert reals into fixed point.

it should still fix some issue For AndroidStudio, I am creating a simple conversion app that allows you to convert kilometres to miles and vice versa. I am able to convert it by clicking a button, but how would you do it in real time? For example, as I am typing the number, it converts it right away in a different textbox. , You can do this if you're using an EditText:
