Ambiguous method call with Integer

Ambiguous method call with Integer

I wish did fix the issue. Before Java 5 there was no autoboxing or auto-unboxing. This meant that if a method foo had a parameter of type Integer, the following did not compile
code :
foo(5);    // 5 needs to be autoboxed
bar(new Integer(5)); // The Integer needs to be unboxed
assertEquals((Integer) id, friend.getId());

it should still fix some issue There is no way to make method references unambiguous; simply said, method references are a feature that is just supported for unambiguous method references only. So you have two solutions:
code :
Stream.of(1, 32, 12, 15, 23).map(i->Integer.toString(i));
IntStream.of(1, 32, 12, 15, 23).mapToObj(Integer::toString);

it fixes the issue One fundamental problem here is that a decimal literal will never be deduced as an unsigned type. Therefore, a decimal literal that's too large to fit in an int end up requiring a signed->unsigned conversion in one case, and a long->int conversion in the other. Both of these are classed as "integral conversions", so neither is considered a "better" conversion, and the overload is ambiguous.
As to possible ways to deal with this without explicitly casting the argument or adding more constructors, I can see a couple.
code :
BigUnsigned a(5000000000U); // unambiguous

I hope this helps you . If the class is given, you're out of luck, there are no nice ways to resolve the problem.
How would you guess which method the designer expected to be called in this case? You simply can't. Now think of how the compiler could do the job?
code :
GenericsOverloadingDistinguish<Integer> t = new GenericsOverloadingDistinguish<Integer>();
((GenericsOverloadingDistinguish)t).print1((Object)new Integer(1)); //prints "t"
((GenericsOverloadingDistinguish)t).print1(new Integer(1)); //prints "integer"

will be helpful for those in need If more than one member method is both accessible and applicable to a method invocation the Java programming language uses the rule that the most specific method is chosen. So here java compiler doesn’t consider any of them to be more specific, hence the error.
For the detailed understanding, please read JLS.

it fixes the issue If my understanding of chapters 15 and 18 of the JLS for Java SE 8 is correct, the key to your question lies in the following quote from paragraph 15.12.2:
