will help you This is due to a bug in earlier JDK 8 versions. Open up the project structure for your project and change your project SDK to a more recent version.
Upgrading from JDK 1.8.0_11 to 1.80_72 solved the problem for me.

hope this fix your issue This was fixed after removing a folder pointing to an older version of the JDK from the Path environment variable. The latest Oracle installed version of java.exe was earlier in the path, however I suspect that it was going to the old folder to find javac.exe for some of the steps sbt was running. I also had a JAVA_HOME environment variable set to the older JDK and removed that for safe measure.

I wish did fix the issue. You are getting that error because of the value of JAVA_HOME. Regardless of which version of JRE you are running, you need JAVA_HOME pointing to the right JDK version.
If you want to try, you could set that variable just for the execution of Kafka:
code :
$ JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-11-oracle/ bin/kafka-server-start.sh config/server.properties

To fix this issue As @tech_android already posted in this comment, to solve that problem permanently, go to Module Settings > SDK Location > Use embedded JDK.
This will remove dependency on the external Java installation by using the embedded JDK.
