it should still fix some issue The simple answer is basically, that webpack is made to build and bundle JS. There are plugins that extend webpack to provide you with SCSS, LESS, ... bundling.
Every bundle has an entrypoint. In the case of webpack, that is a .js file. Each file that you import/require in that entry point or in a file that is imported/required in the entry point makes it into the final bundle.

should help you out You must use publicPath parameter in your webpack config - it is exactly what you want:
code :
output: {
    ...
    publicPath: '/scripts/' // Path to scripts relative to your site root
}

I wish did fix the issue. Problem was occurring because of using sourceMap with style-loader.
There is some issue on github for the same problem.
code :
publicPath: 'http://localhost:8080/public/',
{
        test: /\.scss$/,
        include: path.join(__dirname, 'sass'),
        loaders: ["style", "css", "sass"]
},

should help you out By accident I found out that materialize offers a variable to set the font path, so adjusting my own SASS file to this solved the problem
code :
$roboto-font-path: "~materialize-css/fonts/roboto/" !default;
@import "~materialize-css/sass/materialize";
// ... my customizations ...

I wish this helpful for you The problem is not your configuration. You are using the mixins in a wrong way: @mixin is for defining the mixin. You have to use @include desktop-up;in your buttons.scss.
