hope this fix your issue I've assumed that you've got some sort of loop over the widgets and that name corresponds to the current widget name within that loop.
code :
<%
    var pageWidgets = {
        alpha: ['widget895'],
        beta: ['widget900', 'widget123']
    };

    var allowedWidgets = pageWidgets[page.layout];

    // Loop over the widgets and grab the name, I assume
    // you're already doing something similar.
    widgets.forEach(function(widget) {
        var name = widget.name;

        // This is the equivalent of the 'if' in your
        // original code. Note that I've allowed all
        // widgets by default.
        if (!allowedWidgets || allowedWidgets.includes(name)) {
            %>
            ...widget rendering here...
            <%
        }
    });
%>

hop of those help? This is a widget that came with a theme and it's not excluding the listing item from the sidebar. This pulls 3 real estate listings from the same area. But it fails to exclude the current item. , OK I found the solution. The id was not passing to the widget:
code :
'post__not_in' => array (get_the_ID()),

hop of those help? The variable is wrong, in the parameter is $args, but you're using $cat_args in function.
Should be:
code :
function exclude_widget_categories( $cat_args ) {}

fixed the issue. Will look into that further This question lacks some details, still I hope this could help. I would used the grepl function.
In order to remove all rows in the dataset that (one of its) columns (denoted as col) contain (but don't start with) 512, do:
code :
newDF <- oldDT[!grepl('.512', oldDF$col), ]

it fixes the issue In advanced-search you have the possibility to use field-list with the properties disable-subtypes-checkbox and includeSubtypes. I don't think you need more customization (I don't know if that the change your talking about in your question). Cf. Advanced Search Widget
In Simple Search Widget, you do not have field-list hence you can't set the property you need.

Does that help I was reading this SO post on excluding cases with a given string. , You may use this lookahead based regex:
code :
^(?!.*QA).*apples.*$
