will help you To extend the above answer from M Potato Head to allow for all possible characters I'd rewrite the regexp as:
code :
"^initSock\|[^|]+\|router\\r\\n$"
"^initSock\|[^|][^|]*\|router\\r\\n$"

Only Alphanumeric and underscore allowed inside,Both side $ sign will be there. Ex strings: Test_1,23_test_2,test3. , $ is a regex meta character and should be escaped, try this
code :

I think the issue was by ths following , I have a string something like this: , I think you may need to write your own parser.
Yo will need:
code :
    private static List<string> ParseLine(string yourString)
    {
        bool ignorePipe = false;
        string word = string.Empty;

        List<string> divided = new List<string>();
        foreach (char c in yourString)
        {
            if (c == '|' &&
                !ignorePipe)
            {
                divided.Add(word);
                word = string.Empty;
            }
            else if (c == '"')
            {
                ignorePipe = !ignorePipe;
            }
            else
            {
                word += c;
            }
        }

        divided.Add(word);

        return divided;
    }

will be helpful for those in need After experimenting with it for an hour I found out that the working solution is
code :
    String regexString = Pattern.quote(pattern1) + "(.*?)" + "\\|\\|" + "(.*?)" + Pattern.quote(pattern2);
    Pattern pattern = Pattern.compile(regexString);
    Matcher matcher = pattern.matcher(msg);

    while (matcher.find()) {
        String replace = matcher.group(1); //Replacement string
        String action = matcher.group(2);  //Action String

        msg = msg.replaceFirst(regexString, replace);
    }

Log.e ("Display Message", msg);
