To fix this issue You have a circular reference problem. You should check if registering the simple-div component in the beforeCreate lifecycle hook helps. In the simple-div-container: In the simple-div-container:
code :
  beforeCreate () {
     this.$options.components.simple-div = require('../simple-div/simpleDiv.vue')
}

wish of those help I'd import your font.css file when and where you use it (but not exactly the way you suggest, see below) and not just in the root component. I suggest this because when and if you decide to code split, you would only want that CSS to exist in the bundle that uses it.
If the import is in your root component, you might remove all components that are using the fa fa-bandcamp classes but your import remains in the root (because you forget it's there and not alongside your component) and you'd be bundling in CSS that is not even in the chunk that uses it.
code :
import React from 'react'
import '../font.css'
export default ({ className, children, tagName: TagName }) => <TagName className={`fa fa-bandcamp ${className}`>{ children }</TagName>;

should help you out To get this to work, it is necessary export/import the non-HOCed component. This required 3 changes. First the export keyword should be added to the definition of MyComponent.
code :
export const MyClass = ...
 import * as MC from './src/views/MyClass.js
<MC.MyClass myText={'my text'} />

wish help you to fix your issue It was actually a silly problem. I was only looking at my code but the problem was caused by some files that were in ClientApp/dist directory. So the application was pulling those files instead of picking up the ng serve files. So, any changes I was making to my files were not getting picked up. Deleting everything from dist folder fixed the issue.

To fix the issue you can do Seems to be a limitation of a hybrid mode. In my case it was necessary to dynamically create upgraded components and attach them to DOM. In this case it's possible to use the following workaround:
Create a regular Angular Component as a wrapper for upgraded AngularJS directive so that it's template only contains an upgraded directive Add this wrapper component to entryComponents module section Dynamically instantiate this wrapper component using an injector of root hybrid component
code :
angular.module('app').component('myComponent', {
  template: 'dummy content',
  controller: class {},
  controllerAs: 'vm'
});

@Directive({
  selector: 'my-component'
})
export class MyUpgradedDirective extends UpgradeComponent {
  constructor(elementRef: ElementRef, injector: Injector) {
    super('myComponent', elementRef, injector);
  }
}
@Component({
  selector: 'app-nested',
  template: '<my-component></my-component>'
})
export class WrapperComponent { }
@NgModule({
  imports:      [ BrowserModule, UpgradeModule ],
  declarations: [ AppComponent, NestedComponent, MyUpgradedDirective ],
  entryComponents: [ AppComponent, NestedComponent ] // here
})
function createMyComponent<T>(componentFactoryResolver: ComponentFactoryResolver, injector: Injector /* must be passed from root hybrid component */, component: Type<T>) {
  return componentFactoryResolver
    .resolveComponentFactory(component)
    .create(injector);
}
