How to safely change the unique key with Entitiy Framework - Database First

How to safely change the unique key with Entitiy Framework - Database First

I wish this helpful for you When you update your model from the database, EF looks for the primary key and uses that - it does not matter what you name the column. (there is no logic in EF that looks for a column with "id" in the name)
So you'll be fine. Update your database, then update EF from your database and it should pick up on the change.

I wish this helpful for you No you can't refresh only one entity at a time with the update model from database wizard.
You can make a backup of your edmx, update it, open it as an xml file (right click>Open With>XML (Text) Editor), copy the modified sections about your entity (in the csdl, msl and ssdl sections), and paste them in your backup.

hope this fix your issue These two ways to write to the database are almost two different worlds.
The core function of an Object-Relational Mapper (ORM) like Entity Framework is to keep an object model (for example in C#) and a relational database model in sync with one another. Therefore it is capable of tracking changes in the object model and writing these changes to the database.
