Loading modules in the same Python package

should help you out Well, I'd like to explain a little bit more.
Every python program has one and only one global hierarchical module management. The modules in sys.path are the top modules. So take your code as example:
code :
root
----myPackage
--------module1 <- this is what you want.
--------module2
----module1 <- this does not exist.
from myPackage import module1
from myPackage import module2
import sys
print(sys.modules)

fixed the issue. Will look into that further Well, this is a quite common pattern and I think it is also the reason why you can include things inside __init__.py files.
As a confirmation, just grep for import statements in __init__.py files, and you will see that it is widely used in both standard library and common packages.

I wish this helpful for you you need to add wibble to python path (see the official documentation), one way is
code :
import sys
sys.path.append('/path/to/wibble')
export PYTHONPATH=$PYTHONPATH:/path/to/wibble
Is there a reason why Python standard library packages/modules are not in a package named python?

seems to work fine Python packages from outside the standard library are occasionally adopted into the standard library. If there were a naming convention to distinguish them, you'd have to rename the modules, and this would break existing code for no good reason.
For example, argparse was not always part of the standard library.

Does that help For anyone having trouble with this, this is how I got it to work now:
code :
/package
     /utils
         __init__.py    -->  from package.utils.func1 import function1
                             from package.utils.func2 import function2
         func1.py
         func2.py

   __init__.py          -->  from package.main import mainscript

   main.py              -->  import package.utils
                             import cv2
