hope this fix your issue You can accomplish this by passing a class variable to your placeholder property via property binding.
In your component create property variable with default value
code :
myPlaceholder = 'Your Message Goes Here'
<mat-form-field class="example-full-width" (click)="myPlaceholder = 'Message'">
    <input matInput [placeholder]="myPlaceholder">
  </mat-form-field>

like below fixes the issue For modern browsers you can use the HTML5 placeholder attribute.
This will achieve the result you're after without any Javascript and will scale (won't do anything) in older browsers.
code :
<input placeholder="First Name">
$('input:text').focus(function(){
    if ( $( this ).val () === $( this ).attr ( 'placeholder' ) ) {
      $(this).val('');
    }
}).blur(function(){
    if($(this).val() == "")
    {
        $(this).val($(this).attr('placeholder'))
    }
}
);

        function check(obj){
         var val=obj.placeholder.split(" ")[0];
         if(obj.value > parseInt(val)){
           alert('invalid');

With these it helps You can't. What do you expect it to look like? placeholder disappears by design.
If you want to prefix an icon in front of your input field, put them together in a container, give this container the needed style and put there your icon and your input-tag. That's the way, how bootstrap your problem solves.
code :
<div class="input-group">
  <div class="input-group-addon">$</div>
  <input type="text" class="form-control" id="exampleInputAmount" placeholder="Amount">
</div>

may help you . You need to escape the curly brackets by using quotes. Since you need to do this inside an html attribute src you will have to escape these quotes as well since quotes are used already inside the HTML attribute and the way to achieve that is byusing "
Take a look at the img tag src attribute below. If you want to escape the Jinja curly brackets that are not part of an HTML attribute then you can use jinja {% raw %} block (see how I surrounded {{caption}} )
code :
<div class="mainPage" id="fullpage">
    <div class="first section">
        <div class="wrap" id="wrap">
            <div class="photo photo_front" id="photo_{{index}}" onclick="turn(this)">
                <div class="photo-wrap">
                    <div class="side side-front">
                        <p class="image">

                            <img src="{{ url_for('static',filename='photo/&quot;{{img}}&quot;') }}">

                        </p>
                        <p class="caption">{% raw %}{{'caption'}}{% endraw %}</p>

                    </div>
                    <div class="side side-back">
                        <p class="desc">{% raw %}{{desc}}{% endraw %}</p>
                    </div>
                </div>
            </div>
        </div>
