I wish this helpful for you In the first case, when you print(line_count, f.readline()) you are actually saying print a tuple, which first element is line_count and the second element is f.readline(), f.readline() reads the entire line, with the end of line marker, in your file it is '\r\n'.
In the second case, print (f.readline()), you are printing just a string, not a tuple containing a string, (if you want a tuple containing just a string you should use (mystring,).
code :
mystring = ('This is my '
            'very long string')
print (str(line_count) + f.readline())
print ('%d %s'%(line_count, f.readline()))

I wish this help you Python doesn't support string interpolation, but you can do it with string formatting:
code :
'http://{}:{}@{}:{}'.format(username, password, server, port)
'http://{username}:{password}@{server}:{port}'.format(
    username=username,
    password=password,
    server=server,
    port=port
)
'http://{username}:{password}@{server}:{port}'.format(**locals())

wish of those help To use your own query vars within rewrite rules, you need to add them to the list of known vars:
code :
function wpd_query_vars( $qvars ) {
  $qvars[] = 'my_year';
  $qvars[] = 'make';
  $qvars[] = 'model';
  return $qvars;
}
add_filter( 'query_vars', 'wpd_query_vars' , 10, 1 );
echo get_query_var( 'model' );
