How to add a column to lists within a list without losing their names?

I hope this helps . I did several attempts to add a specific column to data frames resp. lists within a list, but all *apply() attempts failed to preserve the names of the data frames. , Try Map
code :
Map(`[<-`, l, "id", value = substr(names(l), 1, 1))
#$alpha
# X1.3 id
#1 1 a
#2 2 a
#3 3 a

#$bravo
# X4.6 id
#1 4 b
#2 5 b
#3 6 b

#$charly
# X7.9 id
#1 7 c
#2 8 c
#3 9 c

I wish did fix the issue. Are you starting with the strings 'a', 'b', etc.? If so then you can use ''.join to convert ['a'] into 'a' and [] into ''.
code :
[''.join(l) for l in list_of_lists]

may help you . Assuming that your dataframe contains only columns of the same type, e.g. only numeric, you can first coerce to a matrix and then set the column names (and row names if there are any) to NULL. Here's an example using the built-in mtcars dataframe:
code :
foo <- mtcars
foo <- as.matrix(foo)
rownames(foo) <- NULL
colnames(foo) <- NULL
foo <- lapply(seq_len(ncol(foo)), function(col) foo[,col])

I wish this helpful for you Another option is to use stack after setting the name for each element of the list to be the vector:
code :
stack(setNames(l, n))

# values ind
#1 a one
#2 b one
#3 c two
#4 d two
#5 e two
#6 e three

like below fixes the issue I have 2 R dataframes. , Just try:
code :
df1[is.na(df1)]<-df2[is.na(df1)]
df1
# a b c
#1 1 10 6
#2 2 5 NA
#3 3 2 1

Does that help If your original list is called clstrs, I believe this is one solution:
