help you fix your problem There are many ways you could accomplish this, but trying to keep your logic intact as much as possible:
code :
switch ((sender as Button).Text)
{

    case "1":
        serialMonitor.PrintLine("1");
        currentPressedCode = currentPressedCode + "1";
        break;
    case "2":
        serialMonitor.PrintLine("2");
        currentPressedCode = currentPressedCode + "2";
        break;
    case "3":
        serialMonitor.PrintLine("3");
        currentPressedCode = currentPressedCode + "3";
        break;
    default:
        break;
}
if (buttonsPressed == 3)
{
    if (currentPressedCode == vaultCode)
    {

        //vault open
        serialMonitor.PrintLine("vault");
        pcbGreen.BackColor = Color.ForestGreen;

    }
    else
    {
        // wrong code
        serialMonitor.PrintLine("wrong");
        MessageBox.Show("Wrong password"); // wrong password messagebox
        pcbRed.BackColor = Color.DarkRed;

    }
    buttonsPressed = 0;
    currentPressedCode = "";
}

should help you out getElementsByName returns a list of elements, you can't use value on it like that.
You'd get the first element returned from the list in this case, e.g.
code :
document.getElementsByName("blue")[0].value;
<td id="b">How many BLUE triangles?</td>
<td><input type = "text" name = "blue"/></td>
<td><input type = "image" id="bb" src="q.gif" height="25" width="25" onclick ="check_answer(1)"/>
<td width="10%"><img src ="empty.gif" width="25" height="25"/></td>
function check_answer(a){
  var check = 0;
  switch (a) {
      case 1:
         check = document.getElementsByName("blue")[0].value;
         break;
      case 2:
         check = document.getElementsByName("red")[0].value;
         if(check == 22) {
            document.images[a].src = "ok.gif";
            score = score + 1000;
         }
         else {
            document.images[a].src = "wrong.gif";
            score = score - 500;
         }
         break;
   default: alert("fail");
   }
}

I wish this helpful for you Just call the function that your switch block code is in again for case default.
For example:
code :
function askForLetter() {
    var anyLetter;
    anyLetter = prompt("Enter one of the following letters (b, o, or h): ");

    switch(anyLetter){
        case "b":
        case "B":
            //code if user enters b or B
        break;
        case "o":
        case "O":
            //code
        break;
        case "h":
        case "H":
            //code
        break;
        default:
            askForLetter();
    }
}
Why does if statement never equal "0" or "1" ? I print variable "line" and it is a "0

wish of those help If you need to compare objects use always the method .equals(), not the operator ==.
Using the operator == test for the same object (same location in memory), instead the method .equals() check for the same content.
code :
if (msg2==("1")) {
if (msg2.equals("1")) {

How to express "not equal to" with a Swift switch statement with tuple pattern matching

around this issue I'm trying to use pattern matching in a switch statement with a tuple to clearly express all cases where an enum doesn't equal one specific case. Here is a shortened version of my switch statement: , You should be able to write it as:
code :
switch (source, type, status) {
case (.cashVoucher, _, let st) where st == .awaitingValidation:
    return cashVoucherAwaitingValidationMessageComponants
case (.cashVoucher, _, let st) where st != .awaitingValidation:
    return validatedCashVoucherMessageComponants
default:
    fatalError("")
}
