What does "auth.User" in Django do?

What does "auth.User" in Django do?

like below fixes the issue 'auth.user' is the model of the auth application which is part of Django https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/2.1/ref/contrib/auth/. In your code, you used the string 'auth.User' for ForeignKey. I modified the code a bit to explicitly import the User model from the auth application.
code :
from django.db import models
from django.contrib.auth.models import User

class Post(models.Model):
    title = models.CharField(max_length=)
    author = models.ForeignKey(
        User,
        on_delete=models.CASCADE,
    )

    body = models.TextField()

    def __str__(self):
        return self.title

fixed the issue. Will look into that further I am not sure if this will solve all your problems but do take a look at Pinax. They have features to support user invitation and user groups.

fixed the issue. Will look into that further I'm integrating django-social-auth in my existing application. I've done everything so far the only missing thing is to integrate my user model (Trainee) witch doesn't use the auth.User model to the DSA. When I try to login I get the following message: , I deleted existing django-social-auth tables and ran syncdb again.

seems to work fine This has been supported since Django 1.5, and is fully covered in the documentation.
Basically, you need to subclass auth.models.AbstractUser, and set the AUTH_USER_MODEL setting to point to your new model.

will be helpful for those in need Yes, at the simplest level you would have a view that accepts a form submission which takes the value of the field and does something like User.objects.get(username=my_variable) and returns the results, if any. You should wrap the call in a try/ except block so your view doesn't blow up if no such user exists with that username. Django provides a shortcut function for doing just this, so instead of the line above you could do user = get_object_or_404(User, username=my_variable). Your whole view would look something like
code :
from django.shortcuts import render, get_object_or_404

def username_search(request):
  # if there are any form values sent in a GET
  if request.GET:
    my_variable = request.GET.get('username', '')
    user = get_object_or_404(User, username=my_variable)
  else:
    user = None
  return render(request, 'some_template.html', {'user': user}

seems to work fine You see this error because you are trying to assing class object to author attribute. But it suppose to be User instance. So you should create user record first and use it, something like this instead:
code :
user = User.objects.create_user(username="name", email="email@mail.com", password="Pass12345")
post_1 = Post(name="testname", email="testemail", gender="Monsieur", number="23233", author=user)
