Python 2.7 disregarding else and combined "if not" statements

like below fixes the issue sex == "m" or "M" is not sex == 'm' or sex == 'M' it is (sex == 'm') or 'M'. So it's always True since "M" is not empty string.
For your case I'll advice use if sex in ('m', 'M'), sex in ("f", "F") etc.

Why must "exec" (and not "eval") be used for Python import statements?

By : Basu Hunasikatti

I hope this helps you . The problem is that eval evaluates expressions and returns some result, while exec executes statements in some context. import is a statement, while re.match() is an expression.

ffmpeg -i org/onclassical_demo_luisi_chopin_scherzo_2_31_small-version_ii-ending.wav \
-i org/all_u_had_2_say.wav -filter_complex \
"[0]aresample=48000,aformat=fltp[a];
[1]aresample=48000,aformat=fltp,asetpts=PTS+(1.000/TB)[del1]; \

Python logic bug: my variable is assigned correctly and after some "for" and "if" statements it beco

fixed the issue. Will look into that further As I said in the title the variable dots in this code pice becomes a None value after some logic statements, without touching the variable at all. As you can see in the code, there are two different statements of "print dots". I've made the experiment and the first one gives the output "[(1,1,1),(1,1,1)..." as is assigned before. However the second one gives me the output "None". Someone can tell me why this happens and if there is any way to correct it? , My guess is that the line

Why is "not" faster than "bool()" in Python (or, speed of Python functions vs. statements)?

fixed the issue. Will look into that further (This is not supposed to be an answer, just documentation): These are the byte code sequences of the given expressions:
bool(a):

Python 3: How to have the "else" statement apply only if none of the "if" statements are true?

wish help you to fix your issue You can't have multiple if statements and just one else block and have them work together. Each if part starts a separate, indepdendent statement, so the first if is one statement, and then if...else is another statement, independent from the first. It doesn't matter what happened in the first if, the second if doesn't care.
If you want your second and first if tests to work together, you need to use elif instead; that makes one whole if statement with extra tests:
code :
if 'aataaa' in scan(): # if this one doesn't match
    # ...
elif 'aatgga' in scan(): # only then test this one
    # ...
else: # and if either failed then go here
    # ...
if_stmt ::=  "if" expression ":" suite
             ( "elif" expression ":" suite )*
             ["else" ":" suite]
def scan(seq):
    tests = [
        ('aataaa', 'The trouble sequence, Canonical Poly-A Signal, is present'),
        ('aatgga', 'The trouble sequence, Pea Poly-A Signal, is present'),
        # more tests
    ]
    found_match = False
    for value, message in tests:
        if value in seq:
            print(message)
            found_match = True

    if not found_match:
        print(color.GREEN + 'No trouble sequences are present' + color.END)
