wish helps you The issue is that you are using AIX's built-in copy of make and it does not support the command-line option -C. That option is available in GNU make.
If you run make -v and do not see output like the following then you are not using GNU make:
code :
GNU Make 3.81

libtool: compile: unable to infer tagged configuration
libtool: compile: specify a tag with `--tag'

What's the best way to compile Ruby from source on 64-bit RedHat Linux

This might help you The best way would probably be to just "steal" a Ruby 1.8.6 RPM from Fedora. The second best way would be to steal a Ruby 1.8.6 SRPM from Fedora and build it yourself.
However, there is one thing you could do: add a --disable-pthread flag to the configure line and remove --enable-pthread if it's there. --enable-pthread makes MRI significantly slower, and is only needed if you want to use Ruby/Tk and your system's Tk library was built with --enable-pthread.

seems to work fine I finally figured out my problem was. It was my .gwt.xml file. It was not referencing the GWT classes correctly. Not that I solved this, I believe the original way I wanted to reference my source library via the source jar file will work. .
