How can i use a pre installed Intellij Idea that was installed on Windows 7 now on linux?

hope this fix your issue As suggested in the comment, i had to go through a separate installation for linux and then import settings by using setting sync plugin https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/sharing-your-ide-settings.html

How can I detect if IntelliJ IDEA or PyCharm is installed and get the path to the exe on Windows by using Python?

fixed the issue. Will look into that further The installation path is stored in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\JetBrains\IntelliJ IDEA\\(Default)
(replace IntelliJ IDEA with PyCharm if you need the PyCharm installation path)

Do I need to install IntelliJ IDEA if I already have Android Studio installed?

this one helps. If you are going to be working with many non-Android Java projects, then IntelliJ is definitely the way to go. You may even find that after you start using it you will stop using Android Studio altogether.

With these it helps I recommend using Toolbox App for the seamless automatic updates.
If you have upgraded manually, use the Tools | Create Command-line Launcher and Create Desktop Entry to update the old ones.

hop of those help? Well, I finally found a solution to this problem.
This is as simple as registering the distribution using lxrunoffline tool using the rg or register command.
code :
E:\LxRunOffline\LxRunOffline-v3.3.3>lxrunoffline rg
[ERROR] the option '-d' is required but missing

  -n arg                Name of the distribution
  -d arg                The directory containing the distribution.
  -c arg                The config file to use. This argument is optional.
ubuntu config --default-user <user-name>

Scala plugin installed but not shown in creating new project in IntelliJ IDEA

fixed the issue. Will look into that further I downloaded/upgraded the latest IntelliJ IDEA 2019.02 from 2017.x, I had Scala plugin installed already in the previous IntelliJ 2017, and I can see it also gets automatically upgraded. , Problem is gone after Scala plugin is upgraded.
