To fix the issue you can do Given the following example: , As we want to evaluate the value with with we can use get here
code :
sort_by_column <- function(x = mtcars, col = "cyl") {
    x[with(x, order(get(col))),]
}

sort_by_column(col = "cyl")

What is the best way to create a List<string> of column names where the column names do not exist in a string[]?

Hope this helps I have a DataTable and I want to create a List of the column names unless those column names are included in string[] excludedColList.
code :
(from System.Data.DataColumn column in gridTable.Columns
 where !excludedColList.Contains(column.ColumnName)
 select column.ColumnName).ToList()
(from System.Data.DataColumn column in gridTable.Columns
 select column.ColumnName).Except(excludedColList).ToList()

Change position of columns in a dataframe by passing a (character) string of desired column names in R

may help you . I want to change the position of columns in my dataframe as described here. But I do not know why this is not working. See below... , I think you meant
code :
df.correct <- subset(df1, select = correctCol)
> subset(df1, select = correctCol)
   S01 S03 S05 S02 S04
1   51 109 189  49 136
2   82 103 168  33 160
3   72 112 178  59  46
4   79 100 129  68 298
5    2 102 128  35 133
6   86 110  72  45  96
7   33 106  77  22 224
8   56 105 171  18  82
9    3 107   4  67 238
10  35 111  65  79 283
> df1[, correctCol]
   S01 S03 S05 S02 S04
1   51 109 189  49 136
2   82 103 168  33 160

How to make column names/ dataframe names a string with a variable in it (R)

Any of those help Here is how you can work: store the data in the list kk, so that first element ,kk[[1]] or kk[["tpop_13"]], gives the data for 2013 and second element,kk[[2]] or kk[["tpop_12"]] gives the data for 2012, with the name of each element as you suggested.
code :
wa=geo.make(state="WA")
kk<-lapply(c(x,y),function(i){
  acs.fetch(endyear=i,span=1,geography=wa,variable="B01003_001", col.names=paste0("DM_TPOP_",i-2000))
   })

names(kk)<-paste0("tpop_",c(x-2000,y-2000))
   kk
        $tpop_13
    ACS DATA:
     2013 ;
      Estimates w/90% confidence intervals;
      for different intervals, see confint()
               DM_TPOP_13
    Washington 6971406 +/- 0

    $tpop_12
    ACS DATA:
     2012 ;
      Estimates w/90% confidence intervals;
      for different intervals, see confint()
               DM_TPOP_12

kdb passing column names into functions

Hope that helps The previous answer involves working with strings, this can often get very messy. To avoid this it is possible to build up the query by passing column names as symbols instead. The dictionary for the functional select can be built up using the following function:
code :
q){y!enlist[({?[y=x;0Ni;y]};x)],/:y:(),y}[`ref;`a`b`c]
a| ({?[y=x;0Ni;x]};`ref) `a
b| ({?[y=x;0Ni;x]};`ref) `b
c| ({?[y=x;0Ni;x]};`ref) `c
q)![t;();0b;{y!enlist[({?[y=x;0Ni;y]};x)],/:y:(),y}[`ref;`a`b`c]]
ref a b c d e
-------------
0   4 5 8 4 8
1   2 6   9 1
2   8 4 7 2 9
3   0 1 2 7 5
4   5 3   0 4
5   8 3   1 6
6   5 7 4 9 6
7   2 8 2 2 1
8     2 7 1 8
9   6 1 8 8 5

Excel: finding matching names between columns when names are part of longer string in one column

wish help you to fix your issue I have one column/list filled with appointment information (column A), and another separate column/list of clinician names ( column C). I am interested in simplifying column A down to just a clinician name(its match from column C). Is there a method/approach which could be used to find matches in column A and C, and then list them in column B? , You can try this:
code :
=IFERROR(INDEX(Clinicians,MATCH(1,MATCH("*"&Clinicians&"*",A1:A10,0),0)),"not found")
